About This
Site
The
focus of this site is to research and showcase historically-inspired
costume along with the occasional fantasy costume. I am
particularly interested
in Italian fashions of the 16th century. I prefer the clean,
simple
lines of these types of garments, and find it to be a real challenge
making a
garment look rich without resorting to an explosion of baubles and
trim. As I
research the garments I create, I try to give a bit of historical
detail in my
costume diaries. If you have any questions about anything on this site,
please
let me know!
I am also fascinated with corset history,
and do not miss an opportunity to create a corset to serve as a
foundation piece for a particular project . I also make corsets
for myself as fashion pieces when I have the time.
About the
Webmistress
An avid
treehugger, fabric addict, and certifiable weirdo,
the webmistress is a twentysomething resident of the San Francisco Bay
area.
Originally from Los Angeles, she currently lives with her husband and
their cat on the peninsula. When she's not
sewing, you can usually find her about at the local Renaissance Faires
or at
various costume balls around town. Most
likely, however, you can find her in her studio, either designing a new
costume
or working on an existing project.
